
Expansion of the mining activity in the Namibian desert called for a demand of water giving rise to the Mile 6 pipeline. The pipeline was installed near the reservoir in Swakopmund and consisted of 5000m of DN1200/PN16/SN5000. Aggressive soil conditions made FLOWTITE the pipe of
choice in these corrosive conditions. Biggest challenge was to open the trench as the sand is only 300mm-600mm deep before bed rock is reached. Blasting through the rocks made the project time consuming.
